Griswold Tite-Top No. 7 - Lye or Electrolysis ?

Picked this up today. Which method would you use?

Whats on the inside? Grease - lye bath. Rust - electrolysis.

If you must, just use electrolysis for everything. Lye gets rid of grease faster but electrolysis will get it sooner or later and it gets the rust.

These are my opinions. I'm sure other members have their own.

I tend to use both on just about every piece so that most of the crud is in the lye spa and mostly rust is in the electro tank. Just my preference. Don't know what the inside looks like. You may be able to get it clean using only electro.

Please let us see the "after" pics.
 
I have two Griswold Tite tops that have clear enamel under the lids. Just make sure you have bare iron otherwise a lye bath could discolor it.
