I am originally from Texas, but live in Wisconsin now. I've loved cooking with cast iron all my life, and introduced my wife to cooking in cast iron who now loves it also. Most of our cast iron we've found at various rummage sales or farm auctions, and we were recently given 2 cast iron skillets, one old and one new. While getting them ready to season, my wife dug out an old "fish platter" or pan cake grill and we were trying to date it. It might have a gate mark of 2 ovals, but the bottom side is very rough (bumpy)and looks like it has always been like that. Trying to figure out how old it was brought me to this great site!
