Cast iron Baking kettle

Looking back at the GB, I think it would be fair to say 1850 - 1880. I was never sold on the idea that my lid went with my pot. I do think that very likely it had a tin lid. It is just that the cast cover fits like a glove. Lucky!

Two things, One that the metal of the pot and the cover do not feel the same. What I am thinking is that the mold for the pot was of a very fine sand as to the cover coarser sand. Also the pot is thin walled V. the cover is thick.
