Griswold Plated Lid - Suggestions?

My mother in law picked this up for us somewhere along her travels. Looking for suggestions of what to do to clean it up. I have an etank setup if that is the way to go. What say ye?

As long as it's cast-iron, it will be okay. If it is cast aluminum, it will not work.

It looks like nickel or chrome plated cast iron.

Looks like a goodly amount of crud on the skillet. I would go lye bath or oven cleaner first. May take a few days in the lye bath. Once the crud is off you can see the condition of the skillet/plating and decide whether it needs to go into the etank.

I found a Wagner skillet last week it has some Crome on the handle and out side on the wall,I left it on my e tank for 3 days to see if the Crome comes out and only on those spots where was rusted the crime came off, no much value as collectible with worn plating (good user),if you don't want to waste money and time with lye, send it to etank, you won't make it worst.
