Recent thrift acquisition. Excellent build quality. Large, heavy.
Great condition. A product of one of the best cast iron foundry's .
Pleasing color..."Basil".

I included a photo of my first usage.... scallops, shrimp, calamari, and
mussels over angel hair. Served with Cabernet.

You didn't mention what you paid but whatever it was I bet it was a great deal.

Staub is top quality, right up there with Le Creuset. The one you have there would sell new for $350 - $400.

Yes Eric... a great deal. Depending on "sale" prices they can be found
in the price range you indicate... MSRP is much higher. I will test later
today what the real world "qt" capacity is.... it is a big volume pot. The
enameling has a rich translucent quality that suggests depth...almost a
work of art. No obvious flaws.

Only my second Staub piece... (I own one of the huge (12") grey skillet
grills for imparting grill marks on indoor cooking). It also shows every
indicator of highly skilled foundry work. Proud to own both.... very
"professional chef kitchen quality". I would consider both worthy of
the title "heirloom" cookware.

A beautiful piece. I've long wanted a Staub, but have been put off by their high prices. Not to say that they aren't worth it. I hope to one day find a Marin blue cocotte at Goodwill.

Christian,

I agree...the cost of new is a tough hurdle. I now own enameled
Cousances , Le Creuset , and Staub . All excellent quality. All gently
used. Your Marin blue cocotte is out there.

Very pretty piece, I never see enameled pieces but sure would like to have at least one. I also like the rack you have int he corner for your skillets, that would be handy for putting my most frequent users on for quick and easy access. Is it one of those plate rack things?

Thanks Scott...

We are very pleased with the Staub quality/appearance.
(bride prefers it over Le Creuset ). As I type it is being used
for Corned Beef for St. Patrick's day feasting !

Jenna,
One of my best purchases. Great organizer, small footprint,
stable. Holds all my "daily user" cast iron... # 3 thru #9 (#8 is
a chicken fryer !). No regrets ...purchased on Amazon Prime
during a sale.
