Old Pot

Hello All. I have been lurking for a while here. I am wondering if anyone can tell me anything about this pot/bowl. It appears to be fairly old, seeing as it has the gate-mark. I can find no other markings on it anywhere. It is a fairly light pot with thin sidewalls and a heat ring. The bail seems a bit odd to me with the 90º turns in the middle and the spring coil ends where it attaches to the pot. Thanks.

looks like a scotch bowl... but its hard to tell the depth in your photos. the bends in the bail are where it would have originally had a wooden handle.

I kinda figured that it was a scotch bowl. The depth is 5" on the inside. The length across the rim is just under 12" @ 11 3/4". The heat ring is 6 1/4" across as measured from the outside. It is quite light for cast iron due to the thin walls, almost like it was made to be somewhat portable
