Griswold Trivet Duo-chrome

Where catalogs say trivet included with DuChro or Chromium DOs, they don't elaborate on whether they're even iron or aluminum. Considering plating literally doubled the prices of CI ware, I tend to doubt the trivets were plated, although they easily could have been without much effort. If so, I would expect to see nickel plate, not DuChro or certainly not mirror polish chrome.

Here are a couple pics of mine. How do I tell if it is regular cast iron or plated? It was supposedly regular cast iron but unseasoned. Looks awfully shiny to me.

Looks like plain iron. Plating on a piece that old would typically have both some good and some compromised areas of plating that would make it more obvious.

I have a #8 Griswold trivet that is plated iron, probably nickel. It's worn off on some areas on both sides, so I just seasoned those exposed areas to prevent rust.
