Itís a ham boiler. Typically with duel gatemarks. I have seen a couple with a tin lid but most without a lid. The lid was probably optional and being made of tin most havenít survived. You would remove two wood stove eyes along with the divider and set this boiler in the oval hole left. Someone else may be able to date it. I just believe they are pretty old.
