Good point! So far so good this morning. Did the same seasoning regimen described upthread and they've all were in at 400F for an hour, no smoke at all. Whatever it was, burned off yesterday. I strongly suspect it was the MCT oil.

google up what's in Evaporust.

I use phosphoric acid myself when I want something a bit stronger and have a bath Of Ultra-Safe Acid (TM. a muriatic varient) going for a badly rusted piece.
