Hello, I have been reading the forums for a couple months now and this is my first post. Just want to say thanks for the wealth of knowledge on here. I found and interesting piece and wanted to see if anyone knew anything about it.

It's called a Scotch Bowl. That is a nice score. It looks like it is free from damage which is hard to come by in a piece that old. :icon_thumbsup:

It's either a Scotch bowl or a Yankee bowl, the latter being deeper than the former, but can't tell from the photos. Shaped to cook food requiring frequent stirring or for deep frying.

Doug, could you please explain what differentiates a Scotch bowl from a Yankee bowl? The picture in the RB looks like it doesn't have a ring but I think that might just be the angle of the picture.

Thanks all for the info!:) Any idea on the value of this piece? I have quite a few more pieces that I picked up from the same place. Ill be posting more pictures soon.

1910-1920 is the date for the Yankee bowl that is similar to yours in the RB. The value of the bowl in the Red book is 60-70$ but it is showing a #2 bowl and size does matter when determining value.
