Questions on plated pieces

Was reading the info section of the site but still wanted to post this for Doug, or another CI vet.

I was thinking about picking up a plated piece, but have never had one. I know that the info section mentions that they can be cleaned using lye. Would the Easy Off method apply here then?

Also, with a piece that has bare iron coming through the cooking surface, would you try and season it like you would a normal bare iron piece?

Probably some silly questions I know. But I have never had an actual plated piece, and don't want to screw it up if I do get it. Thanks guys.
