Default Columbus Iron Works Grill

I picked up this Columbus Iron Works grill from a lady that said it was her grandfather's and that he had bought it new in the late 40'/early 50's.
After I drove over an hour to get there I saw that it was originally a plated piece. Most of the plating is gone with only the underside and one door remaining.
I know that black iron is preferred, but with so few of these around and so little plating left, how much does this effect the value of this piece?
