U.S. #14 Lodge Skillet

At an antique store today I saw a #14 skillet that had an U.S. on the bottom and the 3 notch lodge heat ring. A large pan with a large price of $350. What information is out there about this piece and is that an inflated price? The store clerk said it was a military version.

eBay sellers are constantly attributing that (U.S.) on those #14s to "military" or" government issue". It's just a Lodge early attempt at a "Made In USA" marking. Nothing any more special than that, and nothing rare.

Crazy price, yesterday I saw a Griswold small logo #14 with the lid for $250. I once found a Made in USA #14 for $25, I gave it to my mom to replace her Cabela's monstrosity.

Local CI vendor offered one for $150 as a "Griswold." After repeatedly hearing it wasn't, he just called it Lodge. It slipped to $65 before the listing disappeared. Others more or less locally for $75 + tax.
