Default Interesting Item. Copper Rivets?

Found this today. Light as a feather. Has any one seen something similar?
Before I stick it in the lye bath, should I have concern with the two rivers that appear to be copper?

Now, I for one think that is very, very awesome that it has that kind of history......just picture the person that fixed it.....maybe old, maybe newer repair but I like it!
