Default Identity Crisis

Any ideas on this? I donít see any markings on it. Where I thought there was a mark, was actually a ding. Thing was absolutely disgusting before the lye bath. Also, while Iím at it, I picked up a lodge pan. Instead of there being a shift indicator, it says ďBMĒ 8 and SK, in that order. I could have swore I read thatís a normality. Right? Thanks.

It looks like a Lodge to me.

But not a Lodge that would have any of those markings on the bottom.

Do you mean a mystery maker using a Lodge pattern? It looks like a pretty fine casting on the inside. If I remember correctly the pan labelled "mystery skillet" is a heavier casting than a no notch Lodge. I dunno, it's been a while since I played guess that skillet.

The markings described are not discernable in the photo. There appear to be no notches in the heat ring. A later Lodge 3-notch might say 8 (at 12 o'clock) and SK below it, but incised not raised, and there would be no raised molder's mark on it.

I think we might be talking about two different pans. I was referring to the first pan in the picture not the Lodge with the markings.

I am assuming all three photos are of the same pan. If the markings being described are on a pan not shown, I would say it's better to show and talk about one pan at a time.

My apologies for the confusion. I didnít have one of the pans pictured, but I do believe it to be a Lodge.. it has the notches in the heat ring, but it had some swirling pattern on the finish. I read here that can happen sometimes. My wife cooked in it and itís almost unidentifiable again.

What I was really wondering was, what this pan is. I took some more photos. There are no markings on this. Just this raised number 8 on the handle. I cleaned it again but still found no markings. I almost thought this was a LodgeÖ but no markings on the heat ring threw me off.

Thanks.

I still believe it is a no notch Lodge. It's a very nice pan, good score.
