Smelting pot? Blue enameled

I purchased a few griswold skillets today and this got thrown in on the deal. What isn't burnt shows me it's a blue enamel. Don't know much after that. Gonna give it a lye bath but not sure if i should being enamel w/ a wood handle. Anyone recognize the mark on it? The pot itself is only 6" x 2 1/2".

Tie it up so the wood does not get into the bath hanging from a framework with wire.

If that was ever used for actual metal smelting I don't know if it's a good idea to strip it using the same equipment you strip your cookware in. You could be introducing lead or cadmium to your lye bath.

It's an LL Bean pan.

The handle unscrews from the pot. Slide the wood off and put the rod back on, if you want.

It looks to me like it was a pot used as a humidifier on a wood stove. The stuff on the inside looks like water deposits. They will come off if you soak the inside of the pot in vinegar and water over night or longer. I agree with the other guys though if it has been used to melt metals just toss it out. I have one of the LL Bean humidifiers that looked a lot like yours. It cleaned up nicely. Mine is red.

Here is a picture of mine. I didn't put it in the lye because Lye tends to eat the shine off enamel. I just soaked it and scrubbed it.
