Happy finds and a little help identifying

Went back to a local antique mall I go to sometimes. I bought the first pieces there recently. Much more and better stuff than before.

I bought a Wagner Ware P/N 1339 Turks Head Muffin Pan for a fraction of value in the BB.

The other piece I bought was what looks like a chrome or nickel plated cast iron WWSO Krusty Korn Kob pan P/N 456 except it's light like aluminum. I think it's a senior but am not sure.

The same dealer had the following:
R&E MFG Co. gem pan with the Waterman patent date.

Is $25 a good price for this?

Also, there was New England Style pan labeled 1 or 11 Barstow Stove Company Prov. R. I. Does anyone have an idea of a good price for that? Was also about $25.

Lastly, the was a small griddle/sad iron heater that couldn't have been longer than 18". It was labeled B.S. No. 2. Gate mark on the bottom. I think it was $30. Is my assumption correct that this is a marked early BSR piece? What would be a good price?

Nice find. Those don't come up too often.

456 would be the senior aluminum c/n. Cleaning it won't be fun; you don't want to use electro or lye on aluminum. Have a SCO?

I have that same pan, and think I gave $20 plus shipping, so...

Nice markings, unusual piece. $25 seems about top end but OK.

Not like any BSR I've seen. My guess, looking at the #11 roll pan, is that the BS stands for Barstow Stove.

Thanks, Doug and Steve.

I guess I should be pretty happy with $20 on the Turks Head pan! It looks like the back of it it black enamel. It's think because I can see small bits of iron in places where it's rubbed against other pieces. If it's original, obviously I don't want to risk damaging it. Is this more likely someone's idea of making it a nice display piece? It's not on the top.

Senior Aluminum: yes, I have an SCO. Perhaps I should sell as is, or possibly after the SCO? Any idea what I could likely sell it for? It is a little warped but then it was only $5.

Sounds like a reasonable price then on the R&E. Two of their other pans are for sale on eBay currently but I didn't see any solds.

I didn't think to compare the NES pan to the griddle/sad iron heater. I think you guys are right; the fonts of the B and S look the same on the two pieces. Any idea of value?

Sounds like I should return and get at least the long pan and the R&E, if not the Barstow Stove NES pan.

I was seduced. I returned and bought the Barstow Stove No. 2 small griddle/sad iron heater as well as the Russell and Erwin gem pan. The R&E also has the black enamelish paint on the back so I suspect it was someones way of displaying. It's not on the very clean Barstow gem pan which I may look at again next week.

I come across a lot of the gem pans that are painted, electrolysis takes it right off. Those sad iron holders are often pressed into service as fish fryers of griddles, I know of one similar I plan to grab tomorrow.

Lye will usually take paint off, too. I was happy to find a nickel plated lifter handle under the black one I bought cheap.

I continue to be seduced. I bought the Barstow Stove gem pan too. I felt like I might have a difficult time getting more of their pieces. With that feeling, I'll probably run into a lot of them since they were relatively local.

Wonder if I can find the old foundry in Providence. There has been some of their ephemera listed on eBay recently.

A few weeks ago, I also found the Wagner 1339 in a local antique mall for $20. I passed on it because I didn't know what I'd make with it. Later on, I tried looking for one on ebay to get an idea what it was going for. Finding none there, I Googled "Wagner 1339" and one of the links was this thread. Then I started kicking myself for passing on the one I had seen. I called the antique mall, put it on "hold", and picked it up the next day. A couple of treatments with oven cleaner later it looks pretty good.

I still don't know what to make with it.

Andy, first of all welcome. The Turk Head pan is used to make various types of muffins. I've also seen folks make cornbread muffins in them too.

Nice, Andy!

I still haven't cleaned mine as I've got a lot in the queue ahead of it and seem to keep putting things ahead. I'm planning on chocolate muffins or cupcakes when I finally get around to it.
