#4 Skillets

As a result of a forum discussion not too long ago, I realized indeed, #4 pieces are not seen that often. While one of my priorities in acquiring CI is age (older more desirable to me), I decided to fill a size void regardless of age.

So my first #4 is a small block grooved handle. Definitely not my first choice, but it is very good condition.

Last Thursday, obtained one most of us would be interested in.

Both of them cleaned up pretty well. Problem is not sure whether I'll be using them. Too small for most of my cooking. And no, I'll not part with them.

Both are in great shape! They are hard to find, at least at a good price. The only #4 I have is an SBL enameled, rather common.

Great finds!

G,

Paid $20 for each of them. Not sure about the small block, but think it is a good deal and slant Erie.

pretty much any #4 is worth $20... the slant erie seems to be more common than the large block with heat ring... but still not nearly as common as all the other sizes.... you don't just stumble across them very often... especially not for $20.

Those look nice! I only have one number 4. Its an Ozark Crescent foundry. Belonged to an old man that was like a grandfather to me. He cooked 2 eggs in it every morning.

#4 size skillets are very scarse in my area and I buy them when I see them. I have 3, one Wagner smooth bottom 1054 which the cook surface is pitted and I would like to get a nicer on for my stack. The other two are Griswold LBL one matt and one just cast. Good size for one egg.

Has anyone seen a #4 BSR ? Cast iron chaos website has a picture of a 5s with a #4 ghost mark, but has anyone actually seen a #4?
