If it's just the inside that needs work, you can start by using a stainless steel Chore Boy or medium stainless steel brush to remove a good bit of it first. This one will not mark the iron: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Workforce-3- ... /100246044 Then rinse it out and blot off any excess water with paper towel.

Put some white vinegar in a sprayer bottle, and apply directly to the rusty surface, wetting it well. Wait about 10 minutes, and scrub with the stainless steel Chore Boy or brush. You will need to rinse and repeat to gauge your progress. The full strength vinegar for short amounts of time will not hurt the good iron, is much cheaper than 5 gallons of vinegar to make a 50/50 solution for soaking such a large piece, and it only requires a little more elbow grease.

Afterwards, you'll need to get it as dry as possible, and quickly to ward off flash rust. If it won't fit in your oven, maybe try a fan or blow dryer. Then apply a thin coat of some type of oil to keep it from rusting. Mineral oil would be easiest, and you can just wash it off if you want to season it for some kind of cooking use.
