Hello everyone..I recently started buying cast iron pans and keeping a few and selling a few...This recent purchase is a large skillet with lid and I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the manufacture...??This has a fire ring on bottom that is broken at 9,12,and 3 oclock and the only markings are the number 14 on the lid and an L circled on the bottom with U.S also circled..hope these photos help and thanks for any info.

Lodge, post-1960. This is the marking you see on eBay claimed as being "US Gov't Issue", "US Military", or, lately, "US Forestry Service". All are incorrect, the (U.S.) mark is confirmed by Lodge as just an early method of "country of origin" compliance.

Here is a pic of the underside of the lid....Thanks so much for all the help..its much appreciated:)

Sell Ken the skillet and I'll buy the lid. :chuckle:

Been looking for a lid for mine as well... But gave up, the prices for No. 14 lids is crazy, and I rarely use lids anyway. And if I really wanted a lid, I'm sure a galvanized trash can lid would fit.
You guys feel free to fight it out. :icon_thumbsup:
