I found this piece at an antique store in Western New York. I have never seen anything like it, so any information would be incredibly helpful.

Do an Internet search for "Odorless Skillet" and look at the images. I believe you might get your answer.

depending who you talk to, its a smokeless/oderless skillet.
Is is marked on the bottom?
looks like a Griswold 869

There are no markings on the bottom.

What is the idea behind an "odorless skillet"?

Cooking odors are convected down the slots or a channel, burned in the firebox, and/or drawn up the flue.

Or, if you don't have a wood stove then the perfect pie pan for a pretty crust.

Once you get it cleaned and seasoned you will find it is an incredible piece of cast iron.

Here I thought it was a ashtray for a large party, boy I was wrong :mrgreen:

But seriously though that is very cool looking and now I need to read more about those. You guys and gals are going to make a collector out of me yet
