that looks like a normal cast iron shallow skillet that wapak probably copied off of either griswold or wagner.

It’s very lightweight and has a very smooth finish except for the rust pitting on the bottom. The pics don’t show well but it doesn’t look like cast to me. Maybe it is but it really is different than any I’ve seen before

Is this some of your 1st vintage cast iron? If you're used to Lodge's current product line (pebbled surface) then I can see why this would look foreign.

Been collecting for a couple of years, have early Wagner and wapak that I use daily. This skillet weighs half of what number 8 Wagner does, walls are very thin handle is hollowed.... much less material used. I just wanted to know if anyone had ever heard of wapak using carbon steel...I guess that’s a no. It’s a lot like a wirco skillet, very thin, I’m lucky it’s not warped

Thats a regular Snack/Chefs skillet. From the pics at least it looks like that......never heard of Wapak doing carbon steel.

Thanks SeanD, I found several with a google search. All have the same super slick finish. I guess that’s what had me wondering. It just looks different.
