Hello Everyone. This is a great site, full of information, and more importantly people that are willing to help and/or teach.
I was gifted, found, and inherited 8 to 10 pieces of cast iron over the years.
I tried, unsuccessfully, to season a pan about 10 years ago... very sticky.
My hope is to clean and to season them all before winter.

Hey Alfred, Welcome aboard. You will find a lot of good information, and a lot of good people here. Investigate, and try, an electrolysis tank, for those old pieces that you say you have. They will come out like the day they left the (mold) foundry. The e-tank sounds complicated, but really, it is not. It is quite simple.

Good luck & Best wishes......nick :D

You said it Nick! Lots of information.

I read about using a lye bath before electrolysis tank.

Thanks, for the encouragement.

Glad to be here,
Al

Welcome Al,
I season all my CI using the method on this website. I've had great success with it, as long as I don't take shortcuts. Strip and reseason your pan using these instructions and you won't be sorry. It's worth the effort.
Best of luck!
