Iron Mountain DO & Cover

Went back to the swap meet early this morning since I ran short of time yesterday and found this piece hiding on a back table. It's an Iron Mountain 1036 per the BB but the cover is only marked with a number 8 which appears to be hand scribed. The BB says the cover should have a number of 1037 which makes me believe it may be a cover for an older Griswold DO such as the one pictured on the bottom of p.147 of the RB. Did Griswold make any DO covers that were hand scribed size or is this cover for a different breed of CI? The lid fits perfectly and the lid lifter (somewhat bent) appears to be original in all aspects. Figured for $20 I couldn't go too wrong so it came home with me to get cleaned up.

The profile of the cover appears slightly more domed (even though it's not very) than the old Erie flat covers. The numeral 8 looks similar, but I would still expect a p/n if Griswold. The Chuckwagon DO description on pg. 147 refers to to the two photos directly above it; I edited for clarity.

Thanks...I'll re-check once out of the lye to make sure if they're any hidden numbers covered by the crud. Just a guess but the slope of the dome is less than 1/2" so there's not much of one.

Iron Mountain lids were now screwed in. They had a loop handle.

They also had drip basters on the lids.

We know the lid is not Iron Mountain; the question is whether or not it's Griswold.
