looks like a scotch bowl... but its hard to tell the depth in your photos. the bends in the bail are where it would have originally had a wooden handle.

4th series erie is the 'artistic' erie and was only made in sizes 5 and 9.

hard to say on the cracks question. I think most are from 'rough handling'... drops, banging against another pan, etc. ...

I'll get some measurements, but it seems about the size of #8... but no markings, griswold like drip rings, the odd section under the handle on top and of course...

I think he was saying that lodge did both styles at the same time or within the same range... some one way and some the other... I suspect the year range should be further refined and one style was...
