Re: Can a spinner skillet be fixed?

I tried one time with a warped skillet cover. I put it on a glass stove, stacked 3 or 4 chicken fryers and skillets on top of it and turned the burner on high. Didn't work.

Re: A Few Questions For The Seasoned Veterans (See what I did there?)

If anybody is still interested, I gave that #6 Gris SBL one more day in the lye, scrubbed it, dried it off, then went to work on it with some 0000 steel wool. Holy cow!

Re: A Few Questions For The Seasoned Veterans (See what I did there?)

Here's an example. This pan has had 16 hours @ 40 amps and 4 days in lye. It's 99% bare dull gray iron but at about 10 o'clock there's a little patch of old seasoning. I guess steel wool is probably...

Re: A Few Questions For The Seasoned Veterans (See what I did there?)

A Few Questions For The Seasoned Veterans (See what I did there?)

Re: Lye Bath and safety?

I stuck my bare hand in the lye bath yesterday. I immediately felt a burning, stinging sensation on my skin. Interesting.

I had three pieces in a 5 gallon bucket with a pound of lye: a dutch oven...

CI Displayed In Your Kitchen? Got a Pic?

I kind of want to display some nice pieces in my kitchen but I also want to be able to grab them and use them. Please be honest. Does this look tacky?

Re: What do you cook in your griddles?

I use my handle griddle a lot to blacken fish. I rub the fish with olive oil and cajun seasoning then drop them on the hot, dry griddle.

I also have one of those rectangular griddle on one side...

I would love to hear from the veterans here about taking power tools to cast iron pans. I bought this skillet for $5. Beautiful SBLBL Griz right?
