Re: Turks Head Pans, Griswold, Wagner and Lodge.

I don't think I've actually baked anything in any of these (I have the normal turks head pans)... but if I bake anything that needs a little extra motivation to release I use baker's joy to coat...

Re: Is This a Kettle?

no, the detachable bottom wasn't how it was designed. the outside pot should be watertight. often you see these with the inside pot being enameled. I have no idea on time frame.

Re: Confirmation - Unmarked Wagner?

I've seen these referred to as 'fat handled wagners'... I agree with the comments above, lots of characteristics appear to be the same as wagner made pans.. but those are some really fat handles.

Re: Is This a Kettle?

I think that was probably the outside portion of 'glue pot'... normally they would have a smaller iron piece that fit inside the outer part, water would be added to the bigger piece, the smaller...

Re: JA Goewey Tea Kettle

I assume the lid pivots from that spot next to the handle attachment... is there anything that holds it in?
most kettles that I've seen combined the pivot with one end of th handle attachment so the...

Re: Erie #9 Shallow Skillet, Dutch Oven

cookware makers were trying to prevent the 'hot handle' problem almost from the beginning... this was one attempt to help with air flow and thermal convection and reduce the thermal mass of the...

Re: Erie #9 Shallow Skillet, Dutch Oven

yes, the dutch oven is a legitimate early ERIE dutch oven, most likely from the 1890's...
the shallow skillet is also very nice and well worth the price for the lot.

Re: ID Help - Gatemarked with Interesting Handle

just don't do anything that could cause harm. lye bath or easy off is good for gunk, vinegar solution for rust... or electrolysis for both. no self cleaning oven or throwing in a fire, no power...

Re: Identifying This Old Beauty (probably 1860's)

the easiest thing I've found is to post the pictures to one of the free picture sharing internet sites (I use imgur) then you can post links to the pictures here or links to 'albums' or groups of...

Re: ID Help - Gatemarked with Interesting Handle

that looks like a bottom gated copy of an early Erie or Favorite... the triangle attachment pad was pretty common in the pans from the late 1880's and early 1890's. It looks like there is a size...

I think the fact that they are both in/around Tecumseh michigan and both in the iron foundry kind of business makes it seem like they should be related... but I'm pretty sure the name of each comes...

and I saw a 2, 3, 5 and 8 sell at an auction this spring... I'd never actually seen any other than the 8's before... they...

I'm not sure the tecumseh that made hollow ware is related in any way to the tecumseh that made small engines and compressor motors and stuff... the tecumseh products company wasn't created until the...
