Wapak Indian Head with Incised Number?

$3 scratch ticket result.

I am not a Wapak expert, and I see very few of them where I live. All the others I have seen have a raised number in a recessed spot in the handle. I don't think I have...

Sprue Mark and Riveted Handle

Can anyone help me narrow down a time frame for this piece? Sprue mark, wrought iron handle that is very securely riveted to the body.

Thanks!

Unmarked Double Broiler

I recently picked up this double broiler that appears to be unused. The fit between the two pieces is nearly perfect, almost no movement or wiggle. The only marking is B2 on the underside of the...

Re: Unfinished Gate marked pan

It definitely seems to be low quality. There is a patent date on the bottom, but I can't make it out. I am just surprised that what seems to be a quality reject is still around, untouched, 120 years...

Unfinished Gate marked pan

I just found this pan yesterday. I love gatemarked pieces, but I have never found obne like this before. It seems to be just as it was after the casting...no finishing work on it. The edges are all...

Re: Seasoning with wooden handle

They don't seem to be screwed on. The metal going into the wood is squared. I tried and it didn't budge.

Re: Newbie needs a little advice

I would be careful about using the Renaissance Wax if you think you might want to use the pieces in the future. Looks like it can be difficult to remove, and it is made from crude oil distillates...

Seasoning with wooden handle

I am going to be restoring this waffle maker. Will the wooden handles be OK in the oven at high temp during seasoning, or should I use a different method?

Thanks

Anyone looking for a lid??

I had a great day hitting thrift shops today. One of my finds was a skillet lid that I got at Goodwill for $5. I'm not sure of the manufacturer.

A restoration and an aquisition

A restoration and a new project today...

I can't pass up any gate marked piece if it is reasonably priced. I got this #8 unmarked griddle for $7 from an antique shop that had several pieces of CI...

Re: E tank question

There is a gap pf 9" between the SS grates, so the pans are 3-4 inches away from the plates. There is no direct contact. Still too close?

E tank question

I set up an e-tank yesterday. I had grandiose ideas of using an old stainless sink, but it was not as deep as I thought. I scavenged stuff from around the house, and my only expense was an old 4 amp...

Here's the final restoration on the pan I found with the Victor-like handl.

It came out great, but unfortunately when I got all the rust and gunk off of it, I found a significant crack. Oh...

Polishing pans

I see an occasional mention of polishing the pans before seasoning. What is used for that? Something like a buffer wheel? Any polishing compound?

Re: Junk or treasure?

MaxS: Looks like the handle is part of the cast.

W. Hilditch: My thought is to leave it like it is as well. It obviously can't be restored to original or useable condition, so I am going to leave...

Junk or treasure?

I picked up a 3 footed hearth pan today. It's in rough condition, but it looks very old and pretty cool--just like me. I didn't mind spending a few bucks on it even if it has no collector value.

Re: Stack of CI for $25

The handle on mine is definitely solid. The heat ring is farther inset, and it doesn't say "VICTOR" on it. I thought the last number in the date was a 5. We'll see what it looks like when I get it...
