I have one question. I have a guy who is going to turn some new handles. Would you keep the old handles tucked away...

What type of wood on the waffle iron?

I've got an early Wagner waffle iron with broken wood handles. It's one of the "The Wagner" waffle irons, patd July 26, 1892.
Can anyone tell me what type of wood was used for the handles?

Depends on what I'm cooking.

My grandmother's cornbread recipe calls for preheating the skillet in the oven to melt the shortening. I like to get it good and hot before adding it so the edges are...
