I have been looking at this piece, I and just not feeling it. It says Erie on it but it is very poorly marked and upside down from the 7. Am I missing something?Any help would be great.11DA3A1D-35F3-482E-B637-59DD8F1FDD4D.jpeg11DA3A1D-35F3-482E-B637-59DD8F1FDD4D.jpeg7932B920-37A3-45AE-A2AD-84296743577C.jpeg26C6DBF2-A714-445F-A60A-C5E267CE8A0C.jpeg

Feels "off". At the time during which Griswold didn't put their name on pieces, it put "Erie", but not "Erie, PA".

That is correct, but did they ever put Erie,PA upside down from the 7? The casting just doesn’t look right. What would you call this and is it a fake?

I would call it either a Bean Pot or a Scotch Bowl......looks like a poorly made fake to me. Looks way too thick and rough.

Looks a lot like a smelting pot. plumbers used them to melt lead to pour around cast iron joints in sewer pipes. Electricians used to twist wires together and take a ladle of melted lead out of a pot like this and go around and dip the wire joints into the lead and then wrap with rubber or tar paper tape.
