#8 Erie Griddle (part 2)

Seems like I am coming across griddles right now.

Several weeks ago, I posted pics of a double gate oval griddle or sad iron heater (per Doug). Then pics of a #7 ERIE round griddle (p/n 737), then a #8 ERIE round griddle. I bought the following with the #8 ERIE round griddle. Paid $50 for both. Think it was an ok transaction.

The long #8 was too big for my lye bath so I used EasyOff (yellow can) to strip it. Was surprised there was a coating (maybe latex paint) on it that essentially washed off when I rinsed the griddle prior to putting into the Etank. Performed a lead test that was negative. Didn't follow the steps Doug outlined in another recent post. I just rinsed, hand dried and then performed the test. Think I'll strip it and redo the lead test.

Acquired a #9 Wagner (stylized) round griddle about a week ago. It is too badly rust pitted to keep, so no pics of it.
