Today's Barn Sale Haul

I picked up five pieces this morning for $130 at a barn sale this morning, very happy with the haul! Surprised I was the only one there as I've been beaten out many times being second in line at these things. I walked away from a Wagner #8 waffle iron, pat 1910 small base as I didn't want to pay $60 and he wasn't budging (plus I don't know much about them). It was in good shape and I don't have one yet, but too much for me. There was a nice looking Griswold #7 LBL but was a spinner. The ones I got range from slight wobbles to perfectly flat.

Wagner #6. High stylized logo, can't see a pattern or size number under the gunk. I have an unmarked same size, one of my favorite users.

Griswold #7 SBL. Early or late handle? Anyone know date range?

Griswold #7 Slant Erie, my favorite find yet

Griswold Turks Head Gem Pan, #140. Don't know much about these, but bargained down to $45 for this one as a sort of gamble that it was a good find in the wild. Plus I really want to make cornbread in it.

Those are "early" handles, 1939-44. The hanging hole doesn't come to a point on late handles. $45 for the 140 is good.

Thanks Doug!

It was interesting, for the waffle iron and the gem pan he pulled up ebay to find similar prices as he hadn't marked any of them yet and didn't know what they were worth (nor did I though). Prices and comparable styles were all over the map though, and he was looking at listings, not sold.

You will love and hate the Turk head pan. They are a pain to clean and season but make some great muffins and mini cakes.

Here's the Griswold Slant #7 after being stripped and seasoned once in the oven, real happy with how this thing turned out! Perfectly flat, no pitting, can't wait to put it into service:

Gris small logo #7, also cleaned up nice:

Sadly, the Wagner #6 revealed a crack near the handle. As much as I love my unmarked #6 and was looking forward to putting this one into service, I don't think it's a good idea to cook with it.

Still working on the #10, and the gem pan.

The turk head pan is not fun to clean. I have some stubborn rust spots, even after soaking 3 times for 25 min at a time in 50/50 vinegar. Hard to really get in and scrub those narrow areas. Flash rust is a bit of a pain too. Ideally, I'd have an electrolysis set up for something like this but that's not a good option where I live.
