Old Pot with Lid

This is my oldest piece that I recently picked up during a 50% off sale at my local thrift store. For $2 it was a no brainer. The only markings are a 2 on both the pot and lid. I am curious as to possible makers and what the name for a pot like this is. I have heard spider pot or bean pot before but I am unsure of what it is best used for.

according to the grey book on early american cast iron.. it's called a skillet or spider... pretty much anything in that shape with relatively straight sides was called a skillet or spider... given the font it appears to be a nice matched set... I really like that set. pretty amazing condition given its age.

Yeah I will most likely use it here and there while camping. I cannot think of many uses given its size though. Probably will be used for oats, sauces, or just boil water.
