grey haze on clean skillet

As the title suggests, after I clean my skillets (wait til they cool, then use hot water and a Lodge plastic scraper to scrape them clean, wipe dry, bake in oven to get rid of any other moisture) I've been noticing a grey haze develop on the cooking surface of the skillet. Am I doing something wrong, or is this pretty normal? And is there a way to minimize this?

The grey haze is the seasoning building up. Once the cleaning is done and after you take the skillet out of the warm oven I usually wipe it down with lard...then wipe it off and stick it on the stove upside down at medium heat till I see a light smoke. This works well for storage and keeping the skillet rust free!!
