Hey look, a foreigner!



This is a DO (with matching lid) that I bought a couple years ago, and finally am getting around to dealing with. Unfortunately, it's an import. Fortunately, it was cheap ($8 if I recall correctly) and it should still be a good user.

Also, I discovered that a fine mesh stainless steel strainer will skim loose paint off the top of the e-tank nicely...so not a total loss.

I wonder if the citizens of Taiwan collect Taiwanese cast iron?

So, this actually ended up being a good practice piece for me. It was painted, and hid a bunch of gunk underneath. But, when I saw the Taiwan stamp, I decided to experiment with cleaning, and be more aggressive with the wire brush because there's no harm done if I mess it up. Turns out that I was being too gentle, and more aggression helped this restoration come out pretty well. So, good job imported piece for teaching me

Not sure if they collect just cast iron, but one guy collects antique culinary utinsils.
