Hi Parker! I own a griddle with the same handle. It's marked with a number (7) instead of a letter like yours, and it also has a gate mark. From what I understand, gate-marked pieces are almost always unidentifiable; no matter, because as good as your skillet looks, I'll bet she'll produce some mean grub! Good luck!

not only is it gate marked, but it's also a single spout... that's an old piece... 1850-ish?

If I only knew, Madden.:D I'd like to know when decorated handles first started appearing on American CIC, as well as pour-spouts and gate marks.

All the ones I've seen do. And I love the single spout. I had one, but I gave it up to someone trying to complete a set. Meant way more to him than me and I hope karma comes around.
But that is a nice looking piece! I'll bet it cooks great!!

Those deep, inset heat ring, old skillets were made to fit an open oval space on a wood cook stove. Some kettles have an off-set bottom that fit into a opening once the cover plate is removed allowing more room on the stove. Most of these skillets the inset ring matched the opening of the surface oval.

I have a skillet almost exactly like that. One of my favorites. Picked it up for $10. Curious on why it would date back to 1850s? That would be awesome! I included pictures
