Default Griswold Hammered Waffle Iron Question

Does anyone know the material Griswold used to make the handles for their hammered waffle irons? I have the iron but it only had one handle when I bought it. I have a friend who can 3D print if it is plastic and can also cast it in resin. Just not sure what the material is. Any info is much a appreciated.

Probably Bakelite. Rub it on some cloth and it should have a plastic like smell.

Thanks Jay. I will do some bakelite testing.
Anyone else have any thoughts.
Anyone else have suggestions on what I can use/do to create a replica?
