Help ID pot

What do you make of the 7 on the bottom? Any chance to know who made it?

I agree, a first for me. I have yet to understand the intended use of a Scotch bowl. I have passed several in need of restoration. I would have bought this one because of the rounded "Lodge like legs". from the early 20th century.
Neat and different.
 
I'm looking forward to cleaning it and using it. It was given to me by a friend as a thank you for me restoring a #7 gate marked bean pot of his wife's. I'd say it's a good trade.
 
A really neat "cauldron"! By the bye, Scotch bowls are meant to cook oatmeal or other foods needing constant stirring. Thanks for sharing pictures of this interesting pot.
