Here is the DO I picked up the other day ...

The inside turned out great.

I did three rounds of seasoning with Crisco (I was out of lard) and then did one round of seasoning with this ...

My first time to make a pot roast. Nailed it.

One disappoint though ... after the first round of seasoning, I noticed the lid has a thin crack it in ...

Rats. But I still love this DO!

Spurgeon that DO is a beauty (as is the roast). Great idea putting the onions on top...I'm going to try that next time.

The DO (and the meal) turned out great, Spurge. Too bad about the crack, but as DaveC said, better on the lid than the DO. Bet that crack never grows while it's in your care.

Nice Dutch oven. My Lodge #9 was my Mom's and It's a good user but I ruined it as anything collectable in its future with power tools before I knew better. Oh well we learn by our mistakes. Mom's #10 3-notch got the same treatment. But after a couple years of seasoning and use you can't see any machine marks any more, black and cooks like a champ. Someone may strip it down the road and give me a good fussing!
