Weekend Finds

from here:http://www.castironcollector.com/lyebath.php

Lye should not be used to clean enameled cast iron pieces; it will dull the finish. Lye can safely be used to clean nickel or chrome plated pieces.

and here: http://www.castironcollector.com/electrolysis.php

Finally, electrolysis should only be used to clean bare cast iron ware. Aluminum pieces will dissolve. Enameled cast iron pieces may also have their coatings compromised. Plated iron pieces may or may not be adversely affected, depending upon whether or not areas of plating have already begun to release or flake off.

so to summarize, lye is ok for plated... electrolysis is a maybe, depending on the condition of the plating (you'll probably know more about the condition of the plating after cleaning up with lye).

also, the inside of the lid is probably enameled...so take note of the warnings above regarding that.

I have a nickel plated wagner similar to yours, but I think my favorite out of your bunch is that slant logo griddle... that's a beauty... and it doesn't look like it will take much to 'clean it up'.
