Staining - clean or not?

Hello!

I've been stripping down skillets using an e-tank but on some pans it looks like no matter what I can't get all the staining out. Is this a worry? Or should I move on and re-season knowing the pan will turn dark enough and eventually not show. Are there any good methods floating around to Tetris of all the staining and residuals?

I've had the same experience. From what I've read, and a little bit of experience... the stains will disappear as the seasoning increases and darkens.

I have managed to minimize, but not eliminate it by a final scrubbing with a SS pad and Barkeeper's Friend.
 
Straight vinegar or BKF and steel wool. Or EvapoRust. All have been shown to have some effect on residual black stains. All are safe to use, but don't leave the vinegar on more than about 30 minutes without rinsing.
