Is that the only marking? If you would a picture of the back side and the handle where it meets the pan would help greatly, thanks.

I would say BSR based on the picture here: http://www.castironcollector.com/unmarked.php and click on the camera looking icon for BSR.

No ,not BSR for sure . But the handle doesn't look like any that I remember .

kind of hard to tell from the pics... is it deep... like a chicken fryer? or a skillet?

sometimes the handles are different on the deep pans (chicken fryers).

Correct. BSR had text on the bottom of their pans. The handle does look similar to a BSR design at the pan, but their ridge is longer than the one shown in the photo.
Since there isn't a heat ring, this will limit the choices of manufacturers since very few where still around by then.
