Gate Marked ID

I recently bought a large collection of cast iron. I have been working through it starting with the least rare/interesting first. I started looking at the attached pan. It is a gate marked 8. I know gate marked stuff is hard to trace. As I looked it over, I really think there is a ghost mark of some sort at 12 o'clock just above the rough cast area around the gate mark. The wall is cracked (visible in second pic), so probably just wall art, but I was curious if anybody knew anything about the possible ghost mark. I tried photographing the ghost mark, but it is not clearly visible even in person, and the photography doesn't show anything.

A ghost mark still might not mean anything. Ive seen gate marked Erie skillets. They looked rather high quality, but obviously a fake. Lots of small foundries used their competitors hollow ware as paterns. some didnt even take the time to remove the text from the bottom.
