Is it or isn’t it?
This looks like a No. 9 Golfball pan P/N 947 Variation 1 per Griswold Muffin Pans book, but... On the top side it says “Pitman Stores” “Birmingham” The book says it should measure 10 3/8” x 7” this is measuring 10 1/8” x 7” Some manufacturers are known to have used Griswold products for their patterns. These copies would end up being smaller than the Griswold. Griswold did make store branded products, but I can’t find any information on “Pitman Stores” Pictures: https://imgur.com/a/Cv6SHHh |

I think the roughness/crudeness of the Pitman and Birmingham markings is enough to say Griswold didn't make this piece.

I agree that it wasn’t Griswold. It really is too rough.
And just to add mystery as to who manufactured it: The only Pitman Stores I can find is in Birmingham, England. It was the first health food store in England and sold across the world via mail order. |
