After Flaxseed Oil

I've cleaned and seasoned my pan 6 times with the flaxseed oil method. How does one maintain the pans after that? Just wash out pan with a little water and salt then heat up to get rid of the water. Then wipe it down with crisco and heat the pan up till it starts smoking then let it cool down and store till the next use? I'm new to using cast iron and don't want to ruin my base seasoning. Thanks...

There's no reason to "smoke" an application of oil after every use and cleaning. Wash it with hot water, dry it, then put it over a low burner for a minute to evaporate any residual moisture. You can also wipe it down with an extremely small amount of oil or a spritz of PAM. Time will tell if you will be one of those satisfied having used flaxseed oil for initial seasoning; many are not.
