I have a question for the folks who know. I read somewhere that there is a certain oil to season with to turn CI black for display only but it needs to be clean before you cook in it. what is the seasoning that turns it deep black?

Could be talking about mineral oil.

yes, I think it was mineral oil. if that was applied would it be safe to cook in after cleaning?
