Default Waffle Iron Has Been Repaired??

I recently purchased this item and upon closer inspection, I think it has been repaired in the past. The metal seems slightly different and the edge is smoothed over, unlike the other Griswolds I own. I am looking for some other opinions on it.

Here is a photo of the side that I believe to be original. Note that it is sharp and angular. The side I believe to be repaired is rounded over.

Cast iron damage requires another type of metal to effect a welded repair. Therefore, the expectation would be not only a material of a different color and texture but that it would also surround the break. It may be the pattern used to make this pan's mold suffered a break a some point and artifacts of its repair and refurbishment are evident in the casting.

that looks more like a casting flaw to me than a repair.
