Here is a photo of the side that I believe to be original. Note that it is sharp and angular. The side I believe to be repaired is rounded over.

Cast iron damage requires another type of metal to effect a welded repair. Therefore, the expectation would be not only a material of a different color and texture but that it would also surround the break. It may be the pattern used to make this pan's mold suffered a break a some point and artifacts of its repair and refurbishment are evident in the casting.

that looks more like a casting flaw to me than a repair.
