My First Cauldron

Freshly cleaned and oiled https://imgur.com/gallery/8oaPw

I wasnt as meticulous with this one as I am with my skillets but it got cleaned up pretty good. I dont have time to heat it and season it but placed a good coat of vegetable oil on it to protect it from rust. Ill put the heat to it friday or saturday and post more pics. I only paid 60 bucks for it at the Covington Antique Mall in GA. They were asking 75 but i figured why not try lower and bingo bango its mine! Its my prescious!

Nice clean up job and I think you got a very fair price on it and especially since you got it at an antique mall. Most around here would start that pot at $100 or more.

I really hate seeing these with drill holes in them. I can find the best condition cauldron and look at it and it's got half a dozen holes in the bottom. I think I own my new cast on her passion which is finding and restoring as many of these as possible.

I got really anxious and excited and took the cauldron out after 24 hours. It got 12 hours in the what I call cooking position and then 12 hours in the 90-degree turned position so it would clean the inside better. Hopefully next time I'll be able to control myself and leave it 24 hours each way
