Is Cast Iron Cookware Primarily and American Institution?

I have several pieces of French enameled CI, and some DeBuyer carbon steel pans, but have never seen any bare cast iron pieces from other countries outside Taiwan or Chinese knockoffs. Thanks

Collecting? Perhaps. But in terms of using, I know that the Indians, Japanese, Koreans, and Mexicans all utilize cast iron vessels.

I saw one marked “Made in Germany” the other day at an antique store.

I did a google search on Cast Iron production by country. Of course, it gave results in all cast iron production, not just cookware. I tried narrowing the search, but it seemed to give pretty much the same result. Lots of countries produce cast iron.

Made in Germany??? I really respect German craftsmen. I would love to see their versions of cast iron skillets. did you get it ?

Nope. I didn’t even take a picture of it .... which is surprising, considering I must have 2000 pics of cast iron on my phone. Ha!
