Need recommendations on cleaning nickel plated skillet

I just got a nickel? plated skillet and I'm wondering what I can use to clean it without harming the plating. I read the page on plated cast iron at this site.
Lye: Yes
Electrolysis: No
Vinegar: Would this be OK if I find rust?

Yes vinegar is so mild it won't hurt anything but will help remove rust.

Thanks. I just washed off the lye and there is a little rust.
